Opening and closing DWGS taking ages

I have installed Arch 2012. I have typed in a few lines of text; attempted a "save as". That was about 20 minutes ago and the file is still not saved yet!!   Saving such a few lines of text in 2011 would taken about 1/2sec!  As its stands I cannot use 2012!

Any ideas? Thanks

Not sure if you found a solution to this yet, or not, but in vanilla AutoCad 2011 we found that de-selecting "Maintain visual fidelity for annotative objects" sped up drawing saves by a huge amount. 

This setting is found on the Options screen

Thanks for your suggestion.

I had that option unticked already.

I find if I select a profile with almost nothing in it the commands behave.

But when I use a normal profile - not so.

As a workaround I am flipping between profiles - not very satisfactory but at least I can get some work done.

I am not aware I have customized 2012 any differently to previous releases ..  but it is certainly behaving differently.
