Multiline Attribute keeps moving

I'm getting a little frustrated with the multiline attribute. Every time a place it in a block and save the file, the tag moves to the left when I re-open the block file or try to insert the block in another file. Does anyone out there know how to stop the tag from moving? FYI Locking the tags position makes no difference.

I am having the exact same problem.

I notice that the Properties palette lists my multiline attribute as being justified "middle center" but the only grip on it (when I don't lock position) is placed in the lower left.

Anyone got an answer to this yet??

Thanks for linking that thread!

I just posted the problem to Autodesk tech support as well.

To make things more interesting, I'm also getting a fatal error when trying tocreate new sheets from Project Navigator. This only started acting up after adding the mline attribute. Strange.

Perhaps a solution will come out with SP1 (due out this autumn)?

I found a way around it. It worked for me and I hope it works for you.
1. When you first create the attribute leave it as left justified in
the Justification options in the Text Settings Section of the
Attribute Definition dialog box.
2. Next check the Multiple Lines option in the Mode section of the
Attribute Definition box.
3. Then click the button to the right of the Default Field in the
Attribute section to place the Attribute extents in the drawing.
4. Specify the insert point for the attribute. Keeping in mind that
the insert point will be at the top left of the text box.
5. The text formatting window opens where you enter the
default text or insert a field.
6. Click the Center button for the text paragraph and type in your
field or text.

And that’s it. Position the multi-line attribute so its center where you want it and it will stay put.

Extra.

My Block has other dynamic behaviour that I would have to construct from scratch if I need to explode block to edit Multiline Attribute. Not ideal, and I already have done it twice, exploding and putting all the behaviour back again.

Autodesk should provide a solution whre we don't need to explode but only lock the position of the attribute inside the BLock.

Ok, I got around my problem for now.

Selected block went into BEDIT, selected Attribute 1, in Properties manager I set Position to Unlock (I was setting it always to Lock as I understood I had to Lock to certain coordinate)

Selected Second ATT and set to Unlock again.

Closed , saved and the Attributes showed in correct place.
