Laying Out Floor Plan Above for Framing Plan below

What would be the best way for showing the floor plan above on a framing plan, such that the walls are faded back with dashes, but the walls of the floor below remain solid with darking lines?

Thanks.

Create a Display Configuration for each plan type you use (First Floor,
Second Floor, Foundation, Framing, etc.) and change the Display
Properties of your AEC objects per these Display Configurations.
Perhaps someone will post some helpful information as to how you would
go about doing that, since it takes awhile to wrap one's head around the
concept and procedure, but this is the direction you will want to go
with it.

If you do a lot of it, creating a custom Display Configuration is probably
the best long term solution if you are doing this a lot. However, that can
be rather involved.

This is easier, but isn't automatic like a Display Configuration:
1. Set your current Display Configuration to Reflected (to show the
headers).
2. Xref in your floor plan above.
3. Do either 3A or 3B:
3A. Go to the Layer Properties
1. Freeze everything but the wall layers that you want to see in the
xref.
2. Change the xref wall layers to whatever color you use to be
faded.
3. Change the xref wall layers to be dashed linetype.
4. Close the Layer Properties

3B. Highlight that Xref, right-click, and select "Edit Object Display"
from the pop-up menu.
1. In the Object Display dialog box, go to the Xref Display tab.
2. Place a checkmark at the top of the box next to the "Override
the display configuration..." option
3. Select the Screened display configuration.
(This step will screen the ACA objects in the xref.)
4. Pick OK to exit the dialog box.
5. Go to the Layer Properties and change the layers in the xref to
be Dashed.

I hope that helps.
