Edit time tracking

Hello,

I was wondering if there is a way to reset the time tracking in AutoCAD. For example, If I use an existing drawing as a starting point for a new drawing, even if I save with a new file name, AutoCAD tracks form the time the original document was created.

I would appreciate any help.

Thanks!

Of course! I do it all the time just to freak out my lecturers. Just use the clipboard and copy everything on your screen then paste it into a new drawing and rename it. Check the drawing properties and it will say 0 which is obviously impossible. If a drawing should have taken a couple of hours i always play around in the new dwg and get it back up to 10 mins just to mess with their heads.

If you're talking about the Express Tool, have you just tried typing
EDITTIME? You have access to the settings there (on, off, reset).

You can also just type in TIME and get those options as well. This predates
the express tools.

Hmm, whatdya know... I don't remember that one. 🙂 thanks...

hehehe... the drawing I'm working on was created in 1996, and has been
edited for a total time of 3 day and 13 hours. 🙂 cooooool.

more details from the help entry:

Command entry: time (or 'time for transparent use)
TIME displays the following information:
Current time: Wednesday, December 31, 2003 9:54:51:406 AM
Times for this drawing:
Created: Friday, December 12, 2003 1:21:36:203 AM
Last Updated: Wednesday, December 31, 2003 9:49:19:208 AM
Total Editing Time: 0 days 06:44:10.520
Elapsed Timer (on): 0 days 00:07:05.312
Next Automatic Save In: 0 days 01:59:15.570
Enter option [Display/On/OFF/Reset]: Enter an option or press ENTER

Total Editing Time
Displays the time spent editing the current drawing. This timer is
updated by the program and cannot be reset or stopped. Plotting time is
not included in the total editing time. If you quit the editing session
without saving the drawing, the time you spent in the editing session is
not added to the accumulated editing time.

Elapsed Timer
Runs as another timer while the program is running. You can turn it on
and off or reset it whenever you like.
