DXFs and Elevations

I inserted a few DXF models into my plan. When I create the elevations, a lot of other lines show up.  Is there a command that will allow the elevation to read only the of outline the model?

What is the 'model' created with (object types)?
And can you better describe these 'extra lines'? A screenshot or an actual DWG file might help.

It's most likely lines being created by one or more of the blocks being used in the file.

I've seen it before but I'm unsure of what was done to fix the issue.

The model appears to be a Polyface Mesh. (This is a Kohler bathtub.)  The elevation therefore creates lines of each mesh "boundary".

In my experience, the Kohler meshes are less than worthless except for 3d views.  I generally use their plan view pdfs and trace or recreate their views per spec sheet.
