Architecture 2008 crashing

There is a user here at work that upon opening a couple of particular files, one or the other, the app will crashwhile trying to load xrefs. However, when logged on as a different user, there are no problems with the drawings.

I was thinking that the app needs to be uninstalled and then re-installed. Turns out, that didn't work either. There were still fragments of the original preferences loaded (ie. toolbars, paths, buttons). Sounds like AutoCAD doesn't un-install every leaving migration and registry-type files undisturbed.

Any suggestions?

You could try clearing your temp folders (%TEMP%) or re-creating the user
profile.
Do you have Service Pack 1 installed?
Also try AUDIT or RECOVER the drawing file and all associated xrefs.
