2013 - 2012 compability

Just got a dwg file from AA 2013 and I tried opening in AA2012 but I cannot manipulate any of the AEC content.

 

Also, we have a desktop that has 2013 and even there the AEC content acts wierd. For example, one can select a wall but no grips show up.

 

Help!

Unfortunately, that's how Autodesk Marketing has designed the product.  Every three years, whether it's needed or not, Autodesk changes the drawing format, and 2013 is the new format.     It is highly recommended that everyone in an office upgrades at the same time.  Please search on this forum for more information.  It's definitely a hot button issue.
