    Yet another Clinic Addition

I built this model when I first started working at my current job (early 2009) and was trying to learn ACA.  The client asked us for renderings last week, so I pulled up my model and tried to crank something out quickly for them without putting too much more work into it (especially considering its a horrible mess of a model).  So after about 3 total hours of waiting for the Materials Palette to load and almost a dozen acad crashes, here's what I was able to render:

Sweet Doug.  That roof is electric.

I think you are using 12?  12 seems great on some things dismal on others.  My materials keep dropping off.  (workaround . Swap to another dispRep and back just before rendering).

This actually looks what has happened here as glass doesn't look correct - but the grass does show a map.

I have also developed some ideas for keeping materials to a min. My thought is the more materials, the slower it is.  Basically it's about not setting colour in the material (like with paint) and then one material can be used in multiple places.

I'm still using 2011 for most of my renderings, our computers are quite old and don't play well with 2012.

I have read about the material technique you use in regards to color (I very much enjoy your blog, haven't been back to take a peek in a while though), but I haven't tried it out yet.

Thanks Doug. I work on smaller stuff that you do and have found my techniques much quicker to colour, render and out the door.  Started doing some interiors and it does mean a little less detail than a fine MAX rendering but if you need that level you could always swap them back in.  Not there yet with interiors!
