    ACA 2011 Aerial

This rendering was modeled and rendered in ACA 2011.  The trees and vehicles are RPC, and the (clumsily) added background is from Earth with some post-processing.

I want to praise the well-implemented "mass populate" feature of RPC plugin, which helped with the trees and parking lots.

I also want to point out that my final rendering was limited to 2000 pixels wide because anything larger crashed ACA 2011, despite my 8 GB of RAM, see previous posts for additional documentation of this problem.

    Hey, nice work.

Yes Adesk are aware of the render resolution issue. They acknowledged it when I sent them a bug report many months ago. Apparently it is in 2010 and 2011. I had hoped they would have fixed it with the first service patch, as I would consider this a major problem. I am unable to upgrade until it is fixed. If it can't be fixed I will be asking for my last 2 years subscription money back and staying with 2009.

I too am disappointed that the resolution issue hasn't been fixed yet. However, I must admit that I appreciate the improved 2011 materials browser/editor.  That new feature was the fulfillment of a wish list item for me.  Have you seen all the preview model options available (canvas, plane, wall, etc. in addition to the old cube & sphere)?

Just a thought, maybe we could set up our model and materials in 2011 to take advantage of the new features and then back-save to 2009 for the final render?  Might lose some info in the process...

Anyway, I've enjoyed seeing your work in this DG and hope to see more.

    You can't save a 2010 or 2011 model back to 2009, as it's a differant file format.

For me, here are two unusual things that you probably do ordninarny. The first is the huge number of parking spaces in front of the school, and the second structure of  sport`s grounds in the background.)))

We only use the school grounds for football and basketball.
