Opening objects do not have styles, so they cannot take advantage of style-dependent features, such as style-level display overrides.  The attached sample file contains Door Styles that were set up to emulate Openings, allowing you to have "opening" objects that are style-based.  You can read more about this concept and how these styles were set up in this blog article, if you are interested.
