All of a sudden I got this window when starting AutoCAD:

    "AutoCAD Application has Stopped working

A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.

Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

    I'm using v2013 on a desktop with Windows 8

I have been using the program since I got this new system in November without a hitch

On sunday I had a nasty virus - Dell took it out everything was great

Today I had to uninstalled AutoCAD and re-installed it and it worked good.

After I closed it and went to open the application again I got the MESSAGE again

Did you try to run AutoCAD in Windows 7 / Windows XP compability mode (Compability tab at Properties after right click on AutoCAD icon)?

    Win8 is not supported yet.
If you want Autodesk replies, buy a subscription.
Your issue may be resolved with a Windows System Restore back to a day or month it all worked, and/or a repair reinstall of AutoCAD.

    Hi Tony,

I'm glad that the software is now working. If you encounter any issues in the future, please keep the following information in mind:

Note that Windows 8 uses the.NET Framework 4.5 which is incompatible with the 2013 products which were developed and released prior to the release of Windows 8 and are developed and tested on .NET 4.0.

Currently, there has not yet been an update issued to allow the 2013 products to also run on Windows 8.

Please find the policy for the 2013 products installed on Windows 8 at this link:

    Cheers,

    Alison

It stopped again - This is insane - I cannot operate my business without AutoCAD - I didn't know AutoCAD did not support Windows 8 - I asked AutoDesk about it and I get an email telling me what AutoCQAD Products are supported by Windows 8:

    • Autodesk 3ds Max 2013
    • Autodesk 3ds Max Design 2013
    • Autodesk Maya 2013
    • Autodesk MotionBuilder 2013
    • Autodesk Mudbox 2013
    • Autodesk Softimage 2013
    • Autodesk SketchBook Designer 2013

I don't see the most popular and most used product on this list do you?

How am I supposed to conduct business efficiently with an unreliable product and a company allows things like this to happen.

Ther is absolutely no one to turn to when companies like this have you over a barrel

But I blame myself for trusing AutoDesk

    Hi,

    >> This is insane [...]

    >> an unreliable product

To be honest: you are using AutoCAD 2013 in an environment it's not supposed to work and you call it "unreliable"?

If you buy a car and jump off the cliffs do you ask then why the car does not drive vertically down in a reliable mode? Is that insane?

If you need to work with AutoCAD then use the systems that AutoCAD is built for and tested on (>>>AutoCAD 2013 system requirements<<<).

Win8 was released later than AutoCAD 2013, so you can't expect AutoCAD to run on an os that was not available when AutoCAD 2013 was released. There may be an update, but for now there is no one (and I guess it's a lot of work to get it stable on Win8, so better wait more time but be more safe then too)
