i have a template, created a viewport and fit the model view in the layout space. However, when i scale the template... the viewport model doesn't follows the layout scale. Is there any ways to fit it so that when i scale the template i don't have to set the view again

Hi,
>> when i scale the template
A template is a file, that can't be scaled.
If you think about scaling the layout then you have to define a pagesize half or double (or whatever resized compared) to your existing setting. Then go into the layout and scale the viewport, your titleblock, and all geometry on paperspace.
Another option may be to just set a scale-factor in the page-settings-dialog. That does scale the plot-output, but some scale- settings within this layout are then inconsistent. So be careful about every anno-scaling or scale-depending options, e.g. if you have a titleblock with 1:1 as scale-definition this is wrong then.

I'm not following...
Are you actually scaling the border and viewport in paperspace?

If I reduce the layout then yes, I would also have to scale all paper-space elements. That includes all viewports and title-block and border and legend and ... whatever is placed there.

Are you changing border sizes from ANSI D to an 11x17 or something?
If so, the viewport won't scale it's scale (so to speak). You'll have to scale the paperspace objects, then reset the scale in the viewport appropriately.
I hope you're not scaling your border and viewport so you can plot at 1/4" = 1'=0" instead of 3/16" = 1'-0" or something like that.
Are you just changing the size of the border because you need to print a different paper size?
If you supply the reason why you want to scale the viewpor, we might be able to work something out or suggest a work around for you.
We use ANSI D (34x22) borders and print at 1:2 for 11x17 prints or plot at 1:1 for full size ANSI D prints.

Hi,

No, I'm not changing anything, the OP wants something like that, but he was not back yet to describe whatfor he needs that.
I did nothing else but show 2 ways to come to the result as I understood his question.

Hello,
I have a question for you.
I have a drawing drawing 1:1 in the model space and would like to print it to a 1:100 scale using layout.
The question I have is how do I get the correct scale using the layout feature in AutoCad?
I tried using the vp scale on the bottom right of the screen but there are different 1:100 choices each producing varying scales. Please he

What are your units set to in the dwg? When you say there are multiple 1:100 scales, do they all show exactly the same?
