I have just upgrade one seat of Autocad 2012 to 2013, i have set the drawing format to save back to 2010 for the rest of our office to see the drawings. Everytime we type xref the program freezes and will not run anymore. i see many people talking about this problem with no clear fix to the situation. Any help would be great appreciated

    thanks

How many machines have this problem? If you change the save option so that it defaults to the 2013 version again, does it still freeze on you? Have you only noticed this with the XREF command or others as well?

Shawn I am noticing the xref command is freezing even on our 2012 versions BUT only some machines. The only we have changed is we moved to a different office, All Servers are the same and IP address are the same in our new office. it seems to be a path issue but ONLY on some machines and I don't have the issue on my machine. Hi Curt,

If the problem is with your existing drawings, have you tested the same file on a computer that doesn't exhibit the xref freeze vs. one that does? If the problem follows the drawing, then we know your AutoCAD installations are still working okay.

Does the freeze happen in a brand new drawing? That'll tell us if the issue is indeed with your existing drawings and the xrefs already linked in them. Assuming the new drawing is able to do the xref command, try attaching an xref to the new file to see if it works. Save, close, reopen the new drawing, then test the xref command again.
