we have several columns of multiline text and draw a line to the left of each column. problem is when the text increases or decreases the number of rows the line does not change. is there a way to have this line dynamically change as the number of rows change? or is there a way to snap a line on the imaginary box around the text?

Three options...
1. If you know how to use drawing constraints, can assign the endpoint of the line to the "node" of the MText (one corner of MText has it's insertion point, and the other three corners are the nodes) so that when you add or remove text, the constrained line will adjust automatucally
2. If you don't want to get into constraints, you can simply click on both the MText and Line, and then simply grab the end-point grip of the line, and the drag and click on the node of the MText
3. If drawing the line for the first time, you can use the osnaps INS [INSertion] and NOD [NODe] to snap to the MText object
