Can anyone tell me if you can create a solid by lofting between two section, in this case they are 3d polylines, along a given path. The path is at the top of the sections. Using the loft command I have to key in the PO ( point ) option several times to get the path option to show then when I select the path it gets treated as another section. See attached. Thanks for the help. Brian

Hi Patchy, I appreciate the input. It looks like the sweep command created 2 solids over each other. The profiles are not the same and what i'm trying to draw tapers on all surfaces except the top from the larger section on one end to the smaller section at the other end. Brian

It appears to me that the two profiles are planar and should be 2D polylines rather than 3D polylines.
Then it becomes a question of the correct connection.
This would be much easier in Autodesk Inventor - do you have access to that program?

Hi JD, If I change the sections to 2d polylines will this work with the lofting command? This is a tapered profile on all sides except the top with the curved path being the top of the section on both ends. Yes I do have inventor fusion that came with the 2013 Acad software but have never used it. Thanks for the input. Brian

I know it will work in Autodesk Inventor.
AutoCAD can be finicky with Guides/Paths, but I'm guessing it can be done in AutoCAD too.
I will try to find time to run the Inventor solution first.
I am a little concerned about your true design intent though.
Usually with something like this the profile is made perpendicular to the start/end of the path.
I'll try to do it both ways and let you decide.

Use the UCS ZAxis Object option to set your ucs perpendicular to the end(s) of the path before creating the profile.
