AutoCAD 2013/2014 DWG Format

hi there,

i've read in several forums and blogs that the conversion of 3D docs in IGS extension into dwg extension should be possible with the latest AutoCAD 2013 or Inventor Fusion. i have both, but either open the document i've been sent.

i'm working on a Mac. i've also tried opening it on a Windows Acad 2012 and Inventor of the same age, also not possible. Inventor even crashed.

i was told the document in question was made on Solidworks. i would be so gratefull if someone could teach me how to convert this, i've wasted serious precious time trying to solve this situation...

Inventor and Inventor Fusion are two completely different products

I recommend you search Google on sign-up for Fusion 360 (a completely different product than all previously mentioned).

Can you zip and attach the IGES *.igs file here?

thanks for your reply! i just opened an account for Inventor 360. i'm uploading the doc on the cloud right now, it's taking a bit. i wonder if you could generally guide me through what to do to actually convert, since it's not that clear in Help or after viewing the intro video.
i tried attaching the document here, but it's too big.

What is the file size?

it's 332,1MB...

and i also believe... the uploading to 360 stopped (or slowed down drastically) at 57%...

That sounds like an unusally large file size.
Do you know what is supposed to be in the file?

You might also post in the Beta forum - I'm sure they will be interested (do not discuss beta issues here).

i agree... it's an industrial site and machinery, i suppose the size of the site and all those machines in 3D are the reason, i don't believe a lot was done when it comes to 3D details (materials, light, etc).

which beta forum do you mean? for Acad Mac or 360? do you happen to know the link?

JD, it finally got uploaded... now i'm a bit lost... can't find any option for opening the doc online or change anything on it... looks to me that this only lets me share.

can you send me the link to that beta discussion page?
