Consider creating a local printer on a TCP/IP port pointed to the network address of the printer. Then print to it instead of the print share.
I am having the same problem with my 2013 Civil 3D.
Please keep us posted if you find a solution to your problem.
I was going to uninstall and reinstall Civil3D today but after reading your post, I wont bother...
Same issue here. 25 computers in 2 CAD labs. Plotters are networked. I created all new PC3 files, but all Autodesk 2013 apps (AutoCAD, Map, Civil 3D, Revit Arch) crash when I try to plot or preview. I have full admin permissions. Other applications print fine.
This is a huge problem, as you can imagine. Hope somebody sees this that can help...
I'm having the same problem too in our office. 15 CAD stations, and this is happening with users running Windows 7 64-bit.
Temporary measure is to get CAD users to print to PDF, then print out the PDF file.
Hopefully a hotfix or service pack will be out soon to fix this bug.
In my case, I was able to isolate the problem to the HP Universal PCL 6 Printer Driver. I am using this driver for my 3 laser printers (LaserJet 5000N, LaserJet 2300d, and Color LaserJet 5550dn) and it crashed consistently every time. My old 1050C plotter was still working fine (different driver), no crashes, so I knew it was the PCL 6 driver. I updated the driver on the server to version 5.5 from the HP website:
No problems after that. Hope this helps.
Glad to hear you resolved your issue. When I visit the HP download site, the most recent version (and only version) they have listed is 5.5. Did I understand you correctly in saying you rolled your drivers back to a previous version?
I recently installed an HP Laserjet 5200 and it crashes only when I try to print on 11x17 paper, and only from AutoCAD (2012 or 2013). It processes 8.5x11 just fine, and it prints 11x17 fine from any other application.
The 11x17 crash is fixed by updating to the latest driver, and I'd suggest using the HP Universal Driver PCL5 from the link above. It could be that the LaserJet 5200 specific driver doesn't have the latest fix in it that takes care of the issue. Also, as was mentioned above, if you are using a print server, the driver will need to be updated on the server, which may be difficult for you to get done, so install the driver as a local printer to a TCP/IP port.
I'll give that PCL5 a try. IT is across the hall from me, so a server side installation shouldn't be a problem. Thanks for the info!
We recently installed AutoCAD 2013 on a three (3) new Desktop running Windows 7 (64bit). We have discovered that AutoCAD crashes every time we try to print or print preview an 11x17 document headed to our network printer “HP Color Jet 5550h”. We re-installed the latest printer driver. We also installed the latest printer and AutoCAD 2013 updates and none of these have resolved the issue. The weird thing is that we can print 8 1/2 x 11 from AutoCAD to that same printer but not 11x17. We can also print 11x17 to our other 11x17 network printers in the office as well as our plotters.
All other programs in use by our company can print to any size paper on the “HP Color Jet 5550h” including Autodesk Design Review.
