AutoCAD 2013 is crashing when I try to plot....

I have just started using 2013, and everything works just fine, with the exception of trying to plot. I am able to plot to PDF, but if I try to send a job to any of my network printers/plotters, AutoCAD crashes.
I am on a Dell Optiplex 990, Windows 7 Pro, 32bit, Intel Core i7 proc, 8GB RAM
Any suggestions, or is anyone having this problem?
As always, thank you in advance to any replies.

Hi,
have you used PC3-files from previous AutoCAD-versions? Or did you answer the question for "migrate from previous versions" with yes when you first started your 2013-release?
Anyway I would try:
- a) remove the printer from your control panel and connect them newly
- b) create a new PC3-file based on this new connection
BTW: does a preview also crash your AutoCAD?
Good luck, - alfred -

Alfred,
Thanks for the suggestions,
Yes, I did migrate my settings from the previous version. I have also tried a PC3 to plot, and still crash.
2013 is crashing in preview as well. I am going to try to update drivers, and see if that helps, at this point I am at a bit of a loss for explanations.
I am wondering if I am the only one having this issue.

Hi,
>> Yes, I did migrate my settings from the previous version
My personal opinion: never ever migrate settings. ;(
You may try to either login with another user-account (and don't migrate settings) and try then to plot.
If you have not done a lot of migrations you may also reset your AutoCAD-profile (to be found in the Windows-Start-Menu ==> Autodesk ==> AutoCAD 2013-section).
>> I am going to try to update drivers
No, not at the moment as the previous AutoCAD-version did plot well, didn't it?
Instead make the connections new and create new PC3-files from scratch (and don't use them from prev. AutoCAD settings).
Good luck, - alfred -

Alfred,
Thanks again for the suggestions! I tried your suggestions, and still not able to plot to network printer/plotters.
I fiinished what I was doing for the day, and plotted to pdf, and THEN to the printer since it was a priority project. When I fired up AutoCAD for the first time today, it is stuck at loading after the CUI loads.
At this point, I am going to do a full uninstall/reinstall. I will keep everyone updated. If this does not work, I will be submitting a ticket through ESRI.

Hi,

Don't think they can plot better then AutoCAD ![]()
I remember the times where ESRI sold a product called ArcPress to make options for plotting available(for ArcView) that are standard for every AutoCAD or other CAD-system.
But the price of just this one module was "as cheap" as a full license of a complete AutoCAD ![]()
I would not change a product because of some driver- or settings-problems. Get your admin + your AutoCAD dealer for an hour to work, under normal circumstances the issue should be solved then.

Yeah, sorry, not ESRI, AutoDesk for the ticket. Thats what happens when I have both on my mind...........
Should have been a no brainer, no?

Try resetting AutoCAD 2013 to defaults. To do this, click Start > All Programs > Autodesk > AutoCAD 2013 > Reset Settings To Default. If it's a problem with a bad migration or damaged settings files, this will fix it.

Bryce,
Thank you for your suggestions as well, but none are solving the issue. I did end up doing a complete uninstall/reinstall. This did not resolve the plotting issues, and just like in a previous post, I am unable to use AutoCAD this morning.
I have attached a screen shot of where AutoCAD is hanging up during the load.
This is becoming rather inconvenient, and severly hampering production. Are there any patches or service packs that will resolve these issues?

Hi,

Is there a process running called WsCommCntrXXX? If so ==> kill this process, IMHO AutoCAD will then continue to load.
