When Dynamic Input is turned on (and it is by default) AutoCAD defaults to Relative coordinates (automatically adds the @ symbol) You can avoid defaulting to Relative coords by 1) Disabling Dynamic Input, or 2) Change the Dynamic Input mode to "Absolute" You can of course over-ride either mode by manually adding the # or @ symbol for Absolute or Relative coords respectively.
DSETTINGS > Dynamic Input > Settings

Nestly gave a response that was functionally different from yours. You found the dynamic input toggle. The dynamic input settings (available on right click of the DYN button) are a way you can keep dynamic input on but have point input the way you want it.
