blocks insert at wrong in scale in 2014, correct scale in 2012

I am trying to insert a block into a file in Acad 2014 and it comes in too large.  If I insert the same block into the same file using Acad 2012 it comes in at the correct scale.  Doesn't seem to matter if insunits is 0 or 1, or insunitsdefsource or insunitsdeftarget are also 0 or 1.

There must be some variable or variables I'm missing.

Hi,

Could you describe how you insert this block?
Are the block definition already inside the drawing? Or you insert it with copy-paste, or from Tool palette, or from file on disk, or ... ?

Normally I insert it using a lisp routine.  When it inserted incorrectly (way too large), deleted all the instances of the block and purged the drawing.  I tried re-inserting the block using the lisp routine, with the "insert" command, and by dragging it in from Windows Explorer.  It comes in 16 times larger than it should, 2 inches on a side versus 1/8-inch.

I have set insunits to 0 or 1.  I have set insunitsdefsource and ..target to 0 or 1.  No effect.  But inserting the block using Acad 2012 works fine.  There must be some variable that is set different, but I can't find it.

type -dwgunits at the command prompt.

Enter the values pertaining to the drawing's units.

When prompted with, "Scale objects from other drawings upon insert? [Yes/No]", type N, Enter.

That should stop scaling of objects upon insert.

This thread has become of an interest to the community. To add to this thread.

Please take a look at the following system variables that might help, along with the suggestions made by other community members in this post.

  • INSUNITS - Specifies a drawing-units value for automatic scaling of blocks, images, or xrefs inserted or attached to a drawing.
  • INSUNITSDEFSOURCE - Sets source content units value when INSUNITS is set to 0. Valid range is 0 to 20.
  • INSUNITSDEFTARGET - Sets target drawing unit’s value when INSUNITS is set to 0. Valid range is 0 to 20

Check out the link below give great insight to past AutoCAD release and this issue;

AUGI: Blocks, Images or Xrefs not inserting Correctly.

Hi, any help on this hugely appreciated.

When pasting between a drawing objects (drawing is made up of blocks but have same issue if exploded) are scaled up slightly. I have read the above thread and similar and adjusted -DWGUNITS variables, INSUNITS, INSUNITSDEFx commands to the suggested options and still the objects are scaled when pasted. Is there any other things I could look at to try and resolve this issue?

Many Thanks

on properties panel (ctl+1)

modify "Scale X", "Scale Y" and "Scale Z"
