I tried to make a quick-n-dirty elevation label block displaying "+" for positive Y-values and "-" for negative Y. See http://www.cadforum.cz/catalog_en/block.asp?blk=10433
There is a wipeout covering parts of the block. But any draworder assigned in BEdit is not maintained when the block is inserted. Is it a bug?

Hi,
>> There is a wipeout covering parts of the block
I guess it's not a problem for "parts of the blocks" globally, the situation arises because the objects you like to hide are attributes. And as you know attribute-references are attached after the blockreference is created, so the attributes will be added at a time when the wipeout (and the hatch) are already generated.
Sorry, - alfred -
Well one idea about that: what if you create a third attribute containing some special character "overwriting" then what you try to hide by wipeout?
I know that the limitation here might be that there have to be used special fonts to get that done, but it's one workaround (of maybe more from other ideas).

Yes, you are probably right about the order of creation. I have also thought about a third (and fourth) attribute as a mask. But the block is already so "dirty" that it makes little sense.

I have'nt looked at your sample, but if the Attdef si setup as multiline, you can use background masking to keep the text readable.
Finally succeeded with the +/- elevation label - thanks for the hints. The dynamic block ElevPM is here:

Hi Vladimir,
It might be polite to tell folks that downloads from that site are only available to "members".
You are right - fixed (free registration not required anymore).

Hi Vladimir,
Yes, it will be interesting to know how to use this block.
Maxim
Well, this is the block (like the other blocks in the CADforum.cz block library). Do not open it, INSERT it. Place it anywhere in your drawing and it will reflect the Y-coordinate (elevation), plus or minus. It will update automatically (depending on your FIELDEVAL setting).
Vladimir Michl, www.cadstudio.cz www.cadforum.cz
Hi Vladimir,
FIELDEVAL=31, after I insert your block in drawing (INSERT command), I get exactly what you see in screenshot I provided in post #10.
Any ideas?
Maxim
Strange. Even after a REGEN? The block should behave the same as other fields in the drawing.
Vladimir Michl, www.cadstudio.cz www.cadforum.cz
I have noticed now you are on a Mac. I am not sure whether fields work the same on a Mac version of AutoCAD. It works fine in Windows.
Vladimir Michl, www.cadstudio.cz www.cadforum.cz
Sorry, the block doesn't work in AutoCAD for Mac (fields doesn't update)
In AC for PC it works, but even if it is moved above X axis - it shows negative value in my case. Tested in AC 2014 for Win.
Maxim
Same here... negative value no matter where placed. AC 2014 Win 7.
Dave
This is how it behaves on our computers (multiple):

If I knew how to create a short video like yours without using Chronicle I would, but I'm not getting those results. No matter where I place the block I get a negative value... but worse, I also get a "U" shaped remnant to the left of the value.
Dave.
The ElevPM block uses the ElevPM text style mapped to the Arial font - so it should appear the same on all Windows systems. It is strange that the text looks different - can you please set your "Standard" text style to the Arial font with variable height (height=0)?
Vladimir Michl, www.cadstudio.cz www.cadforum.cz
Here how it works on my system:
Font - Arial, Height=0
Maxim
Hi,
I have attached a drawing that shows (hopefully on your system) what I see after the block is inserted into a new drawing.
Also see the video that shows the steps to get that drawing.
Please rename the TXT to DWG.
