>> how do i upgrade to version 19.0.x.x of the AcDwgFilter16.dll?
The way to be sure would be to upgrade your product (ACA).
The way I'm not sure at the moment, but I think there is a good chance, would be to install DWG TrueView 2013 (>>>click<<<)

thanks for the quick reply - i have TrueView 2013 x64 on several other workstations running, but it seems that there is no AcDwgFilter included -> "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\" does not contain a folder "AcDwgFilter" like there is on the ACAD Arch. 2012 workstations...
Have you any ideas regarding this issue and why its happening?
At the moment we are having to rename the file to fix this, however as soon as we roll out another product that includes a version of this file, the error will be back with us.
We are attempting to replicate this, but at this time I don't have an answer as to why this may be happening. The AcDWGFilter16.dll version 188.8.131.52.0 is the one we have been using so the issue doesn't appear to version specific. Duncan, you mentioned that this happens after the msgfilt.dll is loaded. Would you please compare your version to mine?
"C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Filters\msgfilt.dll 2010.1400.4746.1000".
Thanks for getting back to me.
Can you confirm if you have actually replicated the issue as this not just happening to ourselves in the UK but also other regions in the globe.
I can confirm the version of the msgfilt.dll is 2010.1400.4746.1000
Please let me know if there is anything else you need?
I've basically run out of ideas and have been unable to reproduce the problem. At this time I do not have a work around other than renaming the AcDwgFilter16.dll. I will be forwarding the problem to our development team for investigation.
I appreciate all the information you provided,
I'm really suprised that you cannot replicate this issue...
I did raise a call through our autodesk Subscription however i havent heard anything but i can assure you that the dll is the source of the problem.
We re planning to rollout AutoCAD 2013 shortly, is there a way we can deploy without sending this file out with the Deployment?
maybe i've got another idea for you... Because this is often a problem with different systems around my company - could it be possible, that the problem occurs only with different codepages/character-sets? Nearly all of our drawings and emails contain cyrillic and/or other non-latin characters... And could non-unicode characters in combination with a wrong non-unicode language of Windows be a problem too!?
That's a very good thought. If I could get a sample of a problematic embedded dwg in a msg file that would help.
This is an ongoing issue in the UK and Australia as far as i;m aware. From what we can see it is any DWG inside an MSG file.
I even managed to create the issue from a blank DWG.
