Hi, Are there any official document describe the limits in a DWG file? For example, the maximum number of blocks that can be added, the maximum number of layers, the maximum length of an object name, etc.? Thanks
No, I don't know of any documentation on this. If any info will help, read on.
Some objects, like Layers used to be limited to 215-1, or 32767.
IIRC, I was, at one time, able to create more layers than that in a DWG file, but it was very unstable after that and ended up crashing and the DWG was corrupt after that.
I suspect other objects such as blocks, etc are limited to the same number.
The object name limit is 255 for blocks and the same for other objects I believe.

Hello
If I remember well :
- You are limited to 255 layouts !
But you can have more with programming because the atlas generation of MAP (or CIVIL) can generate hundreds of layouts ...
- You can have more than 255 images inserted ...
I imagine it's the same for DWG XREFs !?
Waiting for more feedbacks ...
