What is the best way to create jpg from dwg?

I'm looking for the easiest and quickest way to create jpgs from my layout tabs in my dwg files.  When I print to jpg, the quality is horrible, and I can't seem to figure out how to make it better.  The best way I can find is to first make an eps file, and then convert this to a jpg, however this is pretty cumbersome.  Does anyone know of a lisp routine that would do this?  Or maybe a way to improve the quality of the print to jpg function?

hi,
when creating jpegs, use a big/custom sheet size to print.
create a custom sheet size by using good resolution.

Sometimes I use windows 'Snipping Tool' also.

I use a windows function called snipping tool. Search snipping tool in windows and then pin it to task bar for easy use.

You need either select or customize a larger paper size.

Please follow steps below to define a larger paper size (A1 size 200dpi, 6622x4677 pixels)

1. Command PLOT

2. Select "Publish To Web JPG.pc3" from "Printer/plotter" options

3. Press "Properties" button and select "Custom Paper sizes" under "User-defined Paper Sizes & Calibration"

Print1.png

4. Select the paper size named as "User1 xxx" on top of the "Custom Paper Sizes" list and then press "Edit" button on the right-hand side.

5. Input prefered paper size in pixels, eg. 6622 x 4677, then press "Next".

6. Accept the default Paper Size Name and Press "Next".

7. Press "Finish"

8. Back to the dialogue box in Step 3, press "OK".

9. Select "Save changes to the following file" in the pop-out dialogue and then press OK.

10. In the Plot dialogue box, Select modified "User1 (6622.00 x 4677.00 Pixels)" from "Paper Size" options.

11. Configure other settings and continue to plot the drawing as a jpg.

Now you will get a quite large and clear jpg drawing.

The JPG is a lossy format well suited to photographs but is a very poor choice to represent linework.  Consider using the PNG  format instead.

Well if stock export modes do not work for you, and you don't wanna use pdf format for some reason, I can advise you to install a free pdf printer (like bullzip or pdfill or cutepdf). They also allow you to print to jpeg / png etc. You can adjust the quality with these options.

The quickest and easiest way that I found with the best results is to print to pdf, and then convert to a jpg.

I'm not questioning you in the vein of "why in the world are you doing this?" -- but as a general curiosity question, why do you require JPG?

It really is a poor format to represent vector linework, so I just want to understand the reason. Client requirement?

Thanks.

Hi rkmcswain. . (I am using Inventor 2014, if that makes a difference to the topic)

. . i am after high quality PNG's for website to show Sample Drawings,

Advertising, Communication, Storage. .

i agree, PDF is perfect, but not for the web.

i tried to make TrueView work, but i was unable to produce Professional (PDF) Quality

BullZip PDF is excellent, allowing me to make high quality PNG on free edition.

i do not like transferring any files from one program to another,

Particularly Bitmap Programs, because of the loss of quality.

Unfortunately the software that we use to produce our job travelers will only work with jpg files. Since I first posted this question last July, I've been making jpg files by first printing to pdf and then exporting the pdf to a jpg file. It's been working great, although it's too bad that I have to use a double-step process like that.

Autodesk Inventor does not have a Command Line like AutoCad,

but if it did, i would use ur suggestions, if the resolution was good
enough.

and i did not find any 'Pulg in' for JPEG of PNG-OUT for Inventor,

so BullZip seems the best option for High Res Printouts for web

I also use dwg to pdf and then pdf to save as a jpeg.

I use Adobe pro to make jpeg from pdf and that works well.

And this is not client requirements, but our co-workers needs the jpeg to show the drawing in their reports etc.
