Hello guys,
fairly new to ACAD here...
I have a probably easy-to-solve problem I need to be solved...
I am probably missing one step, but I have no idea which one...
I have my model, all done, ok...
I go from the model space to the layout, create the layer for the viewport, rename it make it active...
MVIEW to make the viewport, the two corners and done...
ESC to deselect the viewport, then go back in and activate it, but the view scale DOES NOT GIVE ME any options to change the ratio, despite view scale being UN-LOCKED...
what am I doing wrongly???

The viewport scale can be adjusted on the Properties palette under Misc. You have to be in Paperspace (double-click outside of the viewport and select the viewport for it to show up).
- OR -
You can use the Viewports toolbar and the scale is on there. The toolbar will let you adjust the scale when you are actively working inside the viewport.
like i said, the DROP-UP (because it's in the bottom part and goes up) menu for the viewport scale DOES NOT OPEN, despite viewport scale NOT being locked, as per the file attached to the previous message...
Your screenshot only shows the Statusbar. I don't use the Statusbar, so I'm not familiar with that method.
Try using the Properties palette (type PROPERTIES at Command Line) or Viewports toolbar (type -toolbar, viewports, <enter> at the Command Line) instead.
No problem! Glad you got it working!
****...it worked in layout 1...
now I try the same approach in layout 2 and guess what...the viewport scale doesn't give me other options AGAIN...in the viewport toolbar either...
attached another screenshot...
Is your viewport locked? The scale will be grayed out (non-editable) if the viewport has been locked.
Yellow should be unlocked, so that seems okay.
Can you attach your .dwg file so we can try to see more clearly what's going on?
sure...it's a simple cube...
my boss wants to switch to acad so i'm trying to see if the setups work...
Alright, I had a chance to look at your drawing and saw that your view is set to Perspective. AutoCAD grays out the scale in this mode because it wouldn't be to scale. To scale it accurately, you'll need to change to Parallel view.
You're welcome! I checked out the Statusbar method of setting the viewport scale that you were initially using. It looks like that should work well for you now that you've discovered the actual problem, and it will free up some space not having to use the toolbar.
