Is there a command I can type at the command prompt only (i.e. no dialog box), which allows for a particular viewport to be set to a specific scale? I assume the viewport must be 'unlocked'. I am writing a script. Thanks!

Be inside the viewport first, then start ZOOM command and use the SCALE-XP option: usage explained in HELP.
I can type mspace to actually enter the viewport, but I don't think there is a command I can type to actually change the scale of the viewport.
I'm essentially looking for a way to change the 0.992449 viewport scaling, to 1:1 by typing at the command line. Then I will relock it.
You were right.
Zoom > Scale > 1
...results in...
Sweet! Thank you.
I would use
Zoom > 1xp
I don't think the Zoom > Scale will give you the consistent results you are after.
