Updating the attached dwg (Xref),

Updating the attached dwg (Xref),

The file Q1 is attached to the file Q5 (attached). Edits are applied to the Q1. These edits are not transferred to the Q5 despite the fact that the “regenerate” button is pressed.

What might be the issue here? How the edits on the Xref files are reflected directly to where they are attached?

Thank you

Best

Jamal

Hello,

What if you save Q1 drawing and then return to Q5 file?
Do you get notification that "attached reference file has changed"?

REGEN will not automatically look into the file system and refresh Xref.  You need to RELOAD the xref.

Typically you can right click on the Xref in the drawing, and choose 'Reload' from the context menu.  Or select the Xref name in the Reference Manager and reload it from there.

Or, as was noted, you chould get a balloon alert that the Xref has been changed and can be reloaded from there.  (Presuming that the Xref was edited in the same Acad session rather than a second AutoCAD session)

Many thanks maxim_k and JGerth for the help,

Edits are applied to Q1. Edits are not updated on the Q5.

  • No notifcations
  • The “reload” did not update (attached)
  • Q1 and Q5 are in the same session

What might be the issue then?

Hi,

Because I also sometimes run over it: ... You have saved Q1 before reloading Q1 within Q5?

At first you have to save Q1, then you will see editing results in Q5.

Plus verify that XREFNOTIFY=2

Many thanks Alfred and maxim_k for the help.

After SAVING the Q1, it works fine. The changes are transferred (after preessing Reload) to the Q5

Appreciated

Jamal
