Scaling Problem

Hi all,

I have a problem with scaling.

Now I have a site drawing in model space and I have set up a page in paper space and need to plot it at 1:500 scale.

However, whenever I scale it to 1:500 In paper space, it becomes way too big. It shouldn't be that big :smileyfrustrated: All the measurements are correct in model space so it is confusing me as to why It is scaling it at 1:500 too big?

Any help would be appreciated as I really need this.

Thank you

I mean when I change the scale in paper space before plotting it. It just goes to big.

I mean It takes up a whole A1 page when it should take up an A3 at most...

Attach your .dwg (2010 format) and let's see.

I'm sorry but it says the file is too large?? :smileyfrustrated:

Is there a way to reduce it?

Make a duplicate, leave a fews enties in model space, gurus here can figure it out.

Hi

Which unit are you using in your model space drawing? To use the preset scales you should be using mm as this is the default unit used in paperspace. If not use this thumb rule to find your xP scale:

convert your unit model space to mm and divide it by the pretended scale.

Example: your drafting unit is meter; a meter is 1000 mm. You want to plot to a scale of 1/500 so divide 1000/500 which equals 2. Your xP factor will be 2. You can also add custom scales to the preset list.

Hope this helps

In the plot dialog, are you using imperial paper size for a metric drawing? If your drawing units are mm, but the paper size is inches, then the plot scale will appear to be 25.4 times too big. Have a look at the plot or page setup dialogs, see the area I circled in red:

Note also that I have the plot scale as 1:1.

The drawing did not fit because your sheet size was too small. .
