R Text

Why is the Rtext link in the titleblock not working for my team members in canada?  They are using the same TB as us but for some reason the plot/date stamp shows like the attached pictures

possibly they are not loading the RText.arx, or may not have Expres stools loaded?

In order for Express Tools objects to display, every AutoCAd user must have Express Tools installed and running. Run EXPRESSTOOLS at the command line. Then they need to run RTEXT command. If older AutoCAD variants are being used, there may be no options. Ensure DEMANDLOAD is set to 3.

No workaround otherwise, and if anyone is using LT or another CAD rpogram they are all out of luck.

Why RTEXT when FIELD has been around forever and requires no special apps to be preloaded?

It's a client tb, no control over rtext vs fields

can your canadian partners run RText from the Express Tools?  does that start the command?  and if it does, will a Regen get the text to display?

and whil i'm thinking of it, what's the expression used by Rtext  in that spot?  A DIESEL expression, a text file?

I was just having a laugh with JGerth about his "typo".  (I hope it was unintentional, but I suspect otherwise)

You asked how to load rtext.arx?  I'm not sure why you would ask that and thought there could be some confusion in how Express Tools is installed.  We hope to get clarification and rule out installation "procedure" as a possibility.

In support, there were occasional cases where a user would load the express tools CUIx file in the CUI Manager.  On the surface, it can appear that this was all that was needed to get Express Tools.  That only loads the user interface, but none of the underlying program.  Commands will be broken.  Express Tools may appear to be installed, but it is not.

Express Tools must be installed thru the Windows > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > AutoCAD > Add/Remove Features > Express Tools.  Let the installer run and when finished, launch AutoCAD.  Express Tools should be installed.  No need to load an arx file.  The Rtext command should work once Express Tools is installed.

Hope This Helps,

Joshua
