Multiple edit of field 'Additional formating' - in one hit?

I have a drawing with about 100 dimenions with fields linking the dimensions to a table. There is also a conversion factor applied to the field.

Is there a way to change the conversion factor in them in one go, or do I have to open up each one indvdually. (on LT 2014, but have access to Full Autocad should a lisp be the only route)

Thanks, Dave.

I would suggest that you select just two or three of your dimensions and see if you can see the field in properties, and if you can see the conversion factor and change it.

Hi, The fields are within the table, which is made of multiline text. So properties of the text doesnt bring up the fields or the conversion.

Hi Dave,

Have you tried using find and replace (FIND command)?

Do you mind sending the drawing or part of it with a sample of what you are trying to achieve?

Cheers,

Luciane

Hi,

Did you manage to edit the fields?

I have attached an extract from the drawing.

The dimensions set out the room sizes. The table then has mtext with fields within - these link to the dims, so if the dims move, the room size table updates automatically.

On the feet and inches column, the field has a conversion factor under the additional formating, which changes it from Metres to feet, however some of these had a mistake (39.31) so I wanted this to be changed to 39.37, but I was hoping not to have to edit each mtext, then each field then each conversion factor.

Any help appreciated!

Hi,

Thanks for the drawing. I understand what you are trying to do.

I am checking what can be done. The ideal would be to be able to add a field with the alternative dim value straight from the dimension, but I haven't been able to do that.

I will get back to you soon.

While you wait, you could try this:

DXFOUT (either the whole DWG or just the parts you want to modify)

Open the DXF in Notepad

Find/Replace "39.31" with "39.37" (For each Find, you can confirm validity by looking for "FIELD", "AcDbField", or "ACFD_FIELD_VALUE" a few lines above it. All of the cases I found were in a string like this: "%lu4%pr0%ct8[39.31]".)

Save the DXF.

Open the DXF, verify the changes, and either Save As or copy/paste back into your original.

Hi,

Sorry but I was not able to batch edit the conversion factor.

The suggestion above seems to work, please give it a try.

I will submit a wishlist item to our developers and hopefully this functionality will be available in a future release of the product.

Perhaps someone else has a suggestion to do this programmatically.

Best regards,

Luciane
