Insert Block Issue

When I insert a block it doesn't actually show up in my drawing. I am prompted to provide a location and am given the option to scale, etc, but when I complete the command the block isn't there. I have even searched for the block using QSELECT and searching for it by name, but it isn't there. I can insert this block in different drawings without issues. I have found, however, that if I insert it as exploded it will show up. Why can't I insert it as a block though?

Make sure that the layer is not frozen, qselect can't find it.

Thanks for the quick reply. I should have specified that I already checked to make sure layer was on and unfrozen. I have objects on the same layer that are visible/usable, so I had ruled that out as the culprit.

A block that was created by vertical autocad instead of plain autocad, maybe?

I'm afraid I don't understand the distinction between vertical autocad and plain. Could you please explain how this might be the cause of my problem?

I should also explain that I have created this block in the same drawing and from within other drawings, but still can't get it to show up in my current drawing. I tried purging all unused blocks (thinking maybe I had too many?) but this hasn't helped either.

Attach your drawing and let's find out why, and which blocks doing it.

The block in question is "rail diag". I just renamed the file and for some reason now it works... I have no idea why though. If you think you can figure out the what & why then please feel free to check out the file. Thanks.

Once again, thank you for your help. I'm afraid the audit results don't mean much to me. Can you give me a quick explanation of why it's significant?

It looks like the block is from vertical autocad (Architectural or any CAD others than plain Autocad because of the block names)

It doen't show up because you had disabled Show Proxy Objects in this drawing.

It shows on other drawings because you click on Show Proxy Objects.
