How to calculate total length of multiple block references

I am looking for a quick and easy method for ACAD to caclulate the total lenght of a series of block references. I have a drawing with many block references in it with the same name but differents lengths, the blocks are basically rectangles. I need for ACAD to calculate the total length of these objects. Thanks in advance.
