Educational Version - Reasons not to use DWGS submitted to us

So, we have several customers who send us drawings that have been created with the Educational Version of AutoCAD. (We get a warning when we try to open them) Their justification is they hired students to do drawings for them. I have heard horror stories about companies getting the "education plot stamp" virus all over their legitamate licenses, but I need some written justification to send back to the customers as to why we will not use these file versions.

Basically a "Disclaimer" as to why these will not be opened under any circumstances.

Breach of license terms.

Send the section of the EULA covering that.  Maybe send links to articles where companies have been severly fined for doing this.  Finally any drawing with EDU content will now have the EDU stamp on them, doesn't look professional to have that on the submittals.  I would not accept drawings from an A/E firm with that on there, and I would never use them again because of it.

Get a copy of the educational EULA and send to them.

You need to report them, else you also could be liable.

1-800-NO COPIES to report.

A related issue to avoid this problem, there is a free tool that can be dowloaded here to scan your hard drives for DWG files that contain the EDU stamp.
