Dynamic Input problem

Just started using autocad 2014.  The dynamic input shows up as a vertical line and gives no information.

This also seems to effect other areas.  If I use the area command pick the corners of a shape, I only get

5 empty boxed vertically lined up, no information.

Can someone please help.

Thanks in advance.

"Going that far" takes about 10 seconds to do and if you've just started using ACAD, you've probably not customized much, so it won't affect much.  Take it or leave it.

USING AUTOCAD 2013; MY ISSUE WORKS LIKE THIS, I TYPE LINE, SELECT ENDPOINT, HOVER IN THE DIRECTION I WANT THE LINE TO GO (NO SNAP NEAR OR ACTIVATED) USE THE DYNAMIC IMPIT TO SAY 28'1", HIT ENTER. WHEN YOU SELECT THE LINE. IT SAYS 28'3 3/4". IT OVER EXTENDED TO THE NEXT NEAREST LINE. THIS IS AN EXAMPLE. IT WAS WORKING LIKE THIS IN OTHER PLACES AS WELL

Go to Options >> Drafting and click on the Drafting Tooltip Settings and change the Size to 0
