Hello
Welcome to the Autodesk/AutoCAD Forums !
What do you mean exactly ?
The dimensions can't "drive" a 3D Object (3DSolid for example) ...

HI Pat,
Thank's - Yes i have dived into what i can see will be a long journey. So much to learn.
Ok so i would like to create a 3d model then add dimentions (this i can do) >
once the dimentions have been added i would like to edit them to the correct size - changing the 3d model
from your intial response im taking it this cant be done, i have done it this way with Solidworks.
i just find it easier when making a new part to roughly model it then edit the dimentions to exactly what i need.
If you're just working with a rough approximation; why not edit the dims. with DDEDIT? It won't change the model, but the dimensions will be what you want. LL
Hello
Please remind that AutoCAD is NOT Solidworks ! ... Autodesk Inventor is "similar" to Solidworks ...
YES you can write "anything" instead of the "real" dim value calculated by AutoCAD ...
But the 3D objects will not be stretched according with the new value !!

AutoCAD is not a parametric program. There are several professional programs out there which are, such as Inventor and as you already know SolidWorks.
I am having a same doubt about driving the size of 3d model as we change its dimension, but it seems its not possible.
If a guy has design a complex 3d model after investing hours of work and if at one place he wants to change just the size of block he can't do it. Now he has to either make a new part or just type false dimension just for show purpose
Its really shocking

@mfhorn - as noted in multiple other posts, you want to be using Inventor or possibly Fusion 360.
AutoCAD by itself isn't designed to work this way; it can be customized to do this in a limited fashion (there are a number of discipline-specific third-party plug-ins) but it's a lot of work.
