We're an IT company that installed a new NAS for all the data in a architectural office.
They are using AutoCad 2011 / 2012 / 2013LT / Revit 2011
Since we installed the new NAS and copied all the data from the old one, opening and saving files takes too long. Sometimes the files hang while regenerating. Saving can take up to more then 4 minutes.
Other applications, for example photoshop, work fine. Copying files from the local disk to the network drive, even moren then 100MB works fine.
All computers have windows 7 and the NAS is from Synologie.
We tried reinstalling AutoCad but that doesn't solve the problem.
We tried setting the savefidelity to 0 but that doesn't solve the problem.
We tried disabling the computers firewall but that doesn't solve the problem.
Please help me understand this problem
Dear Pat
All network settings are not set local but pushed by the server. However the DNS was always the DNS from my internet provider. Now the DNS is set in my firewall which can tell exactly where the share is when something (like Autocad) is in the network.
Thanks!
Hello
THKS for the Info ...

Dang... The security/firewall on the Synology DS412+ NAS is already turned off, so we are still experiencing really slow loading on the autocad file, really slow performance while working on the file as well as 30 secs to just save the file...
The cad file itself is only around 5MB and there are about 30 xrefs loaded to it, around 35MBs in total...
Hi,
and have you compared how long this load/save uses when all data is local and your network is not connected?

I googled a bit and SAVEFIDELITY = 0 solved the super long 30secs wait saving issue.
Still trying to find a way to improve the speed on switching between layouts.
Hi,
good to know you solved it! Thx for the feedback!
>> improve the speed on switching between layouts
Have you looked to sysvar LAYOUTREGENCTL (>>>details<<<)?
