2D file imported from sketchup pro seems broken

I seem to have issues with this particular file from sketchup pro, Ive tried converting the .bak file without luck, on my mac the file briefly opens then closes. please help 😞 

I am using autocad 2013 student and also tried opening it on other computers with the same result.

SKP is a lousy file converter: not much you can do about that in other programs as you found out.
You need to be talking with the SKP support. Your file seems to be of the useless variety here, no AutoCAd version I have will touch it and my non-Autodesk CAD programs report the file is corrupt.

I did a RECOVER and it opened right up in ACAD 2014.

Oh was the file okay? Could I know how to recover please?

Yeah I thought SKP would convert it nicely, didn't know it would screw up my nights work 😞

My other files seem to be dead now too.. How do I recover this?

Also, would copy and pasting the lines onto a new drawing prevent this problem in the future ??

Are you using AC 2013 for Mac? If so and if you are on Mavericks OS: have you installed last Service Pack?
About recovering:
- start AutoCAD with empty drawing,
- type RECOVER at the command window and select DWG file you want to recover, wait for result.
