Is it possible to migrate settings from Autocad 2011 to Autocad 2012 on 2 different computers.
Bought new computer and installed Autocad 2012. I never installed Autocad 2012 on old computer.
Am I forced to load 2011 on new computer, migrate settings from old computer and then migrate settings
to Autocad 2012. Please advise. Thanks

Windows Start Button, go to Programs then Autodesk R2011 folder, Migrate Settings has an export feature.
So does the profile tab in each AutoCAD profile's OPTION command.
But unless the two PCs are totally identical, you might want to share with everyone here what exactly you wiash to migrate, there might be other options.

That only works for migrating from Autocad 2011. I tried that first and it didnt work.
I think I am stuck installing Autocad 2011 onto new computer, then migrating.

What are you trying to migrate? Your method is an exceptional waste of time IMHO as most single users don't need to migrate profiles unless they are overly customized (I assume you are not in a large office with a company profile predefined).

If it is a waste of time is not the question. The question is can it be done.
Looks like it cannot.

Maybe a third time would nail it:
What are you trying to migrate? If you don't know, say so, nothing to be afraid of, we all learn new things every day.

Hi Jon,
Migrating settings only works on the same system. What I would suggest you do is to install AutoCAD 2012 as a trial on your old computer. Then you can migrate settings to it from 2011. Once that is done, then export the settings from 2012 and take that ZIP file to your new computer and import them there. That should do it for you.
Let me know if this works!
