Dimension that Spans 2 drawings

A little help please;
I'm trying to get everyone on the right page, but I can't find any reference to how to properly show a dimnesion that spans across 2 different drawings (with use of a matchline or on a piping isometric that is split). Would either of these examples be the correct way to show a dimension that spans 2 drawing files? Is there a different way to show a dimension that is to span 2 drawings?
Thanks for your help on this.

I use the upper one for spanning to next sheet.
The lower one you see more often when a same shape (like piping or steel beam shows broken) but there should be an extension line on the right side.
These were taught to me when I learned Technical Drafting many years ago, anyone else can do differently, but in the end I can figure out what they want to show.
