Hi,

whatever was done to get that result, I don't understand why that objects are of type "Polyface Mesh" ... except it was imported (with a none-optimal translator) from any other file format.

What I tried:

- command _MESHOPTIONS to convert the existing object to a real "Mesh" object (disable optimization and smoothing in that dialog)

- set SMOOTHMESHCONVERT to 3

- command _CONVTOSURFACE to convert the mesh to a "Surface" object

- now you can use the boolean operations to subtract a 3D-solid from it.

What I would do with that drawing: I would create 3D-solids of that objects by using manual 3D-solid functionality to get rid of that polyface objects, they are not really useful nowadays.

As we don't know what version of AutoCAD you have I hope that the above commands do exist for you, I tried it with 2012 now.

Good luck, - alfred -
