I used to be able to create an xline simply by activating the command, and then picking two points through which I wanted the xline to pass through (for xlines that I do not want constrained to ortho).
Since the install of 2012, I activate the command, pick the first point, but no matter where I pick, the second point is ALWAYS *Invalid*. It doesn't matter where I pick. I can thrash and click all over the drawing and never find a valid second point for the xline to adhere to.
What changed in 2012's Xline command? And what am I doing wrong?
Thanks,
Pete

Hello
Very strange !
I have just tested the _XLINE command on my 2012 & 2013 & 2014 french versions : no problem !
Maybe a stupid idea :

Seems there's an issue with XLINE and Perp OSnap, but I don't believe that issue returns an "invalid" message. Can you copy/paste your command line history here?
Command: XLINE Specify a point or [Hor/Ver/Ang/Bisect/Offset]: Specify through point: Specify through point:
Well, as of this particular moment, it looks like mine is doing what yours is doing.
There is no longer an *Invalid* message.
It's just perpetually asking for through points:
Command: XL
XLINE Specify a point or [Hor/Ver/Ang/Bisect/Offset]:
Specify through point:
Specify through point:
Specify through point:
Specify through point:
Specify through point:

Ah, you're onto something. I did try setting OSMODE to zero, and then manually entering the snap I want for each point of the Xline AND IT WORKED flawlessly.
So it appears that Osnap settings are at the heart of the problem.
At least I have a workaround now. Thanks!
I was having the same problem... until I realised the layer I was drawing on it was off. So, when I turned it on all the lines were there!
