XREF within XREF not showing up when xrefed

OK.........I have a dwg (dwg1) that I've xreferenced in a dwg (dwg2), and have subsequently xrefed dwg2 into dwg3. dwg1 is not showing up in dwg 3 when xrefed, but if I insert it as a block, it IS showing up.

  • All layers in all dwgs are on
  • Nothing is turned off
  • Visretain is set to 1
  • Dwg2, when xrefed into a brand new dwg is still not showing dwg1, so the issue is not with dwg3

I have attached dwg2, so perhaps someone could assist me in troubleshooting....I'm really frustrated and have spent a good amount of time trying to troubleshoot. Thanks in advance for your assitance!

More info.....

I've xrefed it in trying both overlay and attach with no difference in the outcome.

I figured it out!

Dwg2 had to be xrefed in as an "attach" not an overlay. All is well now! :smileyhappy:
