AutoCAD on the Cloud seems to be a popular theme around my office.
Sadly I will be in meetings today, I guess no live revelations for me :smileysad:

Hi Frank,

Fusion does not substitute Inventor or other mechanical products, but is in AutoCAD and can help depending on your needs.

If you wnt to create complex assemblies then I suggest that you use one of the Mechanical products.

Cheers,

Or what would be nice would be if they merged AutoCAD with Inventor :smileyhappy:

"Why?"

So I can use the AutoCAD drawing tools to draw shapes, layouts, etc. and Inventor tools to extrude, add features, etc.

Non-fusion original topic:
Turns out my first post was correct.
But this one I had to dig for:
"Ready for a suite deal? Move to an Autodesk 2012 suite & save up to $1,000 plus get 0% financing. Offer ends 10/15. Http://bit.ly/qRY8OR "
Free money is always a good deal.

That will be the last time I wait in anticipation for something "Big"   I thought it might actually be something new or useful for AutoCAD users, rather than just a fix of last years Mac product that didn't perform as advertised.

You can almost do it with Fusion.

1 - Create your 3D model in Inventor.

2 - Open it in Fusion and convert to dwg.

3 - Xref that 3D model dwg into AutoCAD. Bang, you have inventor model in AutoCAD.

But the problem is when you need to edit that model that was created in Inventor.

Is there a way to edit that dwg 3D model back in Inventor with full parametrics so the xref'd 3D model in AutoCAD always remains live?

I don't think so?

Well, at least those MAC users are getting closet to the AutoCAD the rest of us use, instead of that crippleware 2011 Mac version.
I'm curious how an apple app store only purchase option will fly in many offices for LT4Mac (which for $900 does not have a trial version either).

A big announcement for 1% of AutoCAD users bringing no new functionnality cannot be a big announcement, certainly not revolutionary as stated. And this is if there was at least 1% of AutoCAD users who use Macs, I am sure it's much less. Very disapointing indeed. It would have been more honest to present this as a big news for *Mac* users.
