Update 1.1 for AutoCAD 2011 now available

AutoCAD 2011 Update 1.1 was released shortly after Update 1 was removed from the Autodesk website.  The new update is available here:

http://usa.autodesk.com/getdoc/id=DL15569492

NOTE:  If you have already installed Update 1, you will not be able to install Update 1.1 directly on top of it.  If you try that, you'll receive the message:

This service pack could not be installed because it is not designed for the version of AutoCAD 2011 - English that is installed on your computer.

(See attached image of the Installation Error.)

Update 1.1 includes all of the content of Update 1, plus the AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT Layer Manager Hotfix.  If you already have Update 1, your choices are:

or

  • Uninstall Update 1 (be sure your list of installed programs has the option set to show updates), and then install Update 1.1

Ok what do you do if:

You tried installing ver1 and it appeared it installed ( No Errors)

But Windows XP does not show an install for it ( Showing all updates listed) you can't unistall.

and still get the "Can't Install" Error ?

Ron,

When looking for Update 1 in your list of Add or Remove Programs (or Programs and Features in Vista & 7), this is what you should see:

696iFB0B068BAE98BFB8

If you do not see anything in your list which allows you to uninstall Update 1, you still may be able to run the uninstall string for Update 1, which is as follows:

Msiexec.exe /uninstall {FBC6DFF3-6B3B-4425-BCB1-F0AF8EF79190} /package {5783F2D7-9001-0409-0002-0060B0CE6BBA} /qb

Either click Start > Run or press the WindowsKey+R combination to bring up the Run dialog.  Copy and paste the above uninstall string into the Open field and click OK.  That should function to remove Update 1, and allow you to then install Update 1.1.

However, if it should fail, and Update 1 really is installed (running the ABOUT command in AutoCAD reveals Version E.115.0.0), you only need to download and install the AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT Layer Manager Hotfix from this link:

http://usa.autodesk.com/getdoc/id=DL15629571

If all above efforts prove unsuccessful, you may need to uninstall AutoCAD 2011 completely and then install from scratch, going directly to Update 1.1 once the program has been reinstalled.

I'm getting the following error when i try to install the update:

'The service pack could not be installed because the expected Autodesk product could not be located on your computer. Mke sure that you are using the correct service pack for the product.'

I am running AutoCadd Architecture 2011 on win 7 64 bit. I did down load the 64b service pack. i have not installed any update to AutoCadd.

Help?

They said in the other thread this is only an update for AutoCAD2011 and LT2011 and it won't install on any of the verticals.  I'd assume that's also true for this update since none of the verticals are mentioned on the download page, or in the readme file.

Re: Update 1.1 for AutoCAD 2011 now available

In past years, the equivalent updates for vertical products typically have been released anywhere from a couple of weeks to a couple of months after those updates for plain AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT (this is not a guarantee for a timeframe of future updates, though).  The plain AutoCAD updates won't work for verticals, as the updates are each written with a specific target version of the AutoCAD executable file (and each vertical product has its own specific version of that file).  The updates for AutoCAD's vertical products contain fixes for plain AutoCAD issues, as well as those for vertical product-specific imperfections in the software.  This is why it can take longer for those updates to be posted to the website for download.

As of today (Sept. 21st, 2010), we've released Update 1 for AutoCAD Electrical 2011 and AutoCAD Mechanical 2011.  Updates for other 2011 verticals can be found (when they are posted) at the product-specific page for those versions.  The following page has links to most of them:

 http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/pc/index?siteID=123112&id=15115285

There is a menu at the bottom of that page, which has a complete listing of Autodesk products, which will take you to those pages.

Zac I am running AutoCAD 2011 on windows 7 X64 bit. I recieve the same error message as mentioned above about no detection of the prodcut when trying to install update 1.1. This is the same for another win7 64x bit computer in our office. The update was successful on XP stations though... could you please advise... Thanks in advance.

These may sound like dumb questions but....

What all does the update include? Do you 100% recomend installing the update? (I am running regular 2011 AutoCAD)

Will installing this update change ANY of my current settings?

What all do I "need" to install? I.E. license number or product key or anything along those lines?

Underneath the download link for the update is a link to the "readme" file which gives detailed information about what's in the update, and how to install it.

I'm certainly not speaking on Autodesk's behalf, but if you're not experiencing any of the issues listed, I personally wouldn't apply it.
