is it a TEXT or a MTEXT object? To control the text height you can use the property window (<Ctrl><1> to activate it). Additinally if it's a MTEXT you might have changed the height value directly in the MTEXT-editor, so double click onto the MTEXT-object, then mark the complete text and verify if the height matches to what you set in the property window.

But that's not all, it also depends if you have set the object to be annotative. Then you have a text-paper-height you have to modify and you have to make sure that all annotation-scales are added to the object to make it visible for specific scales.
