Ribbon disappeared, how do I get it back

I've been trying to incorporate my menus and toolbars into the ribbon environment. I skipped acad 09 so this hasn't been fun. I used the transfer feature in the cui environment to get everything I wanted. I go to 2d environment to check that everything is there and it appears to be there. I load my cui and I get my icons and menus but no ribbon. I have a big message that says, "The Ribbon does not have any tabs or panels currently loaded." I type ribbon to load, but nothing.

I've now messed with this enough that even with the base acad.cuix file I still don't have the ribbons.

What have I done wrong and how can I fix it?

Try this. Type menu in your command line and under support folder click on acad.

Good luck.

change your workspace back to the initial setup workspace and you should get the original populated ribbon back

I've unloaded my cuix file and reloaded the original acad.cuix that you're referring to and the ribbon is gone.

I think I've done that by reloaded the base acad.cuix.

Also, I type ribbon to load it but that doesn't make it come back on the screen.

I think the part that's missing is the Workspace. Go back to your customized CUI and make sure you select (turn on) the ribbon tabs you want in the workspace(s) you will be using.

If I look under workspaces, 2d, then over on customize workspace on the right it lists the quick access toolbar, toolbars, menues, palettes, and ribbon tabs. If I click ribbon tabs it lists Home-2D, insert, annotate, parametric, view-2d, manage, output. Shouldn't those particular ribbons appear on my screen?

Yes, if that workspace is set current.

Any thoughts or suggestions on why they aren't appearing in spite of them showing up in that workspace?

Maybe your CUI is missing the Ribbon Panels?
