Removing a saved xref path

Hello All

I have recieved some drawings with xref in numerous directories. I am finding it very time consuming to repath the xref.

I know when you xref a drawings such as a titleblock, you can indicated you do not want the path saved.

Is there a way to remove the saved xref path.

Thanks in advance

Kevin

Use the REFERENCE MANAGER external program that got installed with your 2010
seat, that's what it does, resolves Xrefs.

Another option: Just put all of the drawings in the same directory.
The parent drawing will find and load the xref drawings, regardless of
the saved path.

R.K.

Already did that and didn't work. I am going on the basis that the drawings were xref using the full path option.

I haven't tried to Dean's option yet unless there is another way.

DWGTrueConvert or eTransmit them all to a folder will put 'em all in the same folder and look for them in the same folder

To repeat: If the parent drawing and reference drawings are in the
same directory... "The parent drawing will find and load the xref
drawings, regardless of the saved path."

In the attached image, the parent drawing is in C:\Training\20091215 -
notice the xref saved path, and the fact that it found and loaded it
regardless of this saved path.

Dean,

Can the Reference Manager change the file name as well as the directory? I have a logo file that was updated and the name is slightly different and I have a file that won't let me change it.

In previous versions of AutoCAD, you could just highlight the entire saved path (in the Reference Manager Dialog box), including the file name and press the "delete" button. Then the hard path would be removed. I don't know why they changed this capability in subsequent versions of AutoCAD. It's so inconvenient now to have to start up the Reference Manager to delete unwanted hard paths. It's not a matter of just "finding" the missing Xrefs. We don't want them to have any saved hard paths.

The Reference Manager has serious limitations because it doesn't see any of the paths which are saved under OPTIONS > Files > PROJECT Files Search Path. I use this in conjunction with the PROJECTNAME command to tell AutoCAD where to look for all my Xref files. The Reference Manager requires that all the paths be listed in OPTIONS > Files > Support Files Search Path. Normally I only use this for AutoCAD software related files like fonts, etc. So to have to enter all the Project search paths under this directory is very inconvenient. But if I don't do this, the Reference Manager can't find any of my Xrefs.

There's GOT to be some way to remove hard paths rather than the Reference Manager. Perhaps a .LSP routine?

Autocad 2013 or 2014 under express tools has a comand called "redefine path" or the command "redir".  Enter * to select all xrefs, enter a blank ( like just a return with no information) in the next option and all saved paths will be removed. The xref will search the "search paths" to find the new location of the xref again... like the current working directory.
