Will someone please tell me what causes this error and how to fix it? (see attachment)
It came when I launched Autodesk Reference Manager.
I need this to re-connect Xref's to a large quantity of dwg's.
Much obliged for the help ...
Thanx Aj.
Please note that I have 2010, not 2012, so there isn't a "Reset Settings" option.
Any other ideas?
I never got a solution to this problem since day-1, and nobody at Adsk has forumed me w/a solution.
Is this one of those defects in the program that Adsk refuses to acknowledge, so they won't get mud on their face?
Yea, I realize that most of the people in here don't work for Adsk.
But I have seen and received replies by Adsk people in here before on a number of occasions.
I just want a fix for this program defect.
Apparently it's a defect that's passed on from one version to another.
This is the kind of shoddy work-product that would get me a number on the bread line.
If that were true for Adsk, I'm sure they'd quickly relegate resources for a remedy to make their CUSTOMERS happy and thereby fulfill their part of the 'purchase agreement'.
Dear Autodesk Community Team,
Today, a number of days after I did NOT receive a solution to my software defect problem, I received this email from you:

The answer is, NO, I DIDN'T RECEIVE AN SOLUTION.
THIS IS THE Nth TIME I REQUESTEED ONE.
IF ANYBODY AT AUTODESK HAD ANY DECENCY OR SENSE OF CONTRACT OBLIGATION, THEY WOULD GET JOHNSON SHUIE TO SHOW SOME INTEREST, AND HE WOULD HAVE CONTACTED ME WITH A 'WORK-AROUND'.
Where is the Forum button I can press that says "NO SOLUTION, AS USUAL"?
Hi,
what type of AutoCAD (plain AutoCAD or Mechanical or ..) do you have and what servicepack have you installed?
Does that crash appear everytime with the same drawing(s)?
How many drawings could you run through, not any, or some, or close to all.
When the XRef-Manager is active, what does the task-manager say about memory usage? (And how many memory have you built in your system?
Have you tried to run that with another (new) Windows-user account (so the AutoCAD profile is fresh and not customized)?
Did you disable any file-save monitoring like antivirus, defender, ...?
Some questions as I guess the only way you might come to a solution is to give us more technical informations, ranting does not help to solve the problem.

Alfred,
Thanx for weighing-in on this.
Please note that Reference Manager won't even open when it's launched.
The error occurs while it's opening up.
You can see the error log in my first posting above.
Switching users (didn't think of that!) did nothing to change the problem.
There are no anti-virus, spam or other kinds of resource-draining programs on that stand-alone machine (no, there aren't any virus' or spyware on this machine, except the dot.com spyware that Bill Gates incorporates into Windows OS!)
That's all the technical details I can muster at this point.
Hi,
what about your product itself (AutoCAD type, version, service pack)?
Did XRef-Manager ever worked and stopped working now or did it never start (since 2010)?
Have you used registry-cleaners? If so run a repair-installation (just 2 minutes, does not do anything bad on your system).
- alfred -
Alfred,
Oops. Here it is:
Autocad as part of Inventor Suite 2010, updated to latest major service release.
Hi,
Has XRef-Manager ever worked and stopped working now or did it never start (since 2010)?
Have you tried a repair install as suggested in my reply?
- alfred -
It never worked.
Repair install didn't fix it.
Hi,
well, sounds not good. One additional idea: what happens if you right-click the XRef-Manager-icon and use option "Start as administrator"?
- alfred -
Grea idea!
Didn't think of that one either.
But ... sorry, no cigar.
Hi,
sorry for now, I have no idea with a high percentage of possible success.
I would now try to repair the Framework-installs, then a clean uninstall of AutoCAD and a reinstall with full admin-permissions. But as I wrote, I guess as the repair have not brought any success this options are worth to try, but not with the big hope behind my thougths.
Sorry, - alfred -
Alfred,
Thanx for helping.
Problem is, it didn't work on my Dell Precision machine either.
So I thinking there's something wrong w/the software, b/c it won't run on a Dell workstation or a high performance clone.
Hi,
one more question: if you right-click ontop the file AdRefMan.exe and look to details, what version does your file have?
Mine has 18.0.309.0 (and I'm running on Win7x64 too).

Can you make a backup of the current profile and then delete the profile ?
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Version\enu\Support\Profiles
Then restart AutoCAD, so that AutoCAD will create a new profile for you.
Then try to launch reference manager.
Alfred,
Yup, that's the version I have too.
Thanx AJ, but didn't work.
