Plotter suggestions?

We need to replace an HP DesignJet T610, too many "out of memory" messages. We run both Civil 3D and basic AutoCAD, both version 12 currently, and also plot GIS and many pdf's (the pdf's seem to cause the majority of memory problems)

but...

Does anybody have suggestions for a good plotter *wait for it* at a relatively reasonable price? I'm unsure of our budget but I'm going to throw $4k out there as a starter

Thank you in advance!

Do you have an estimate on how much memory you need. Can you get additional memory for you current plotter?

When you plot PDFs. Have you tried setting them to process in the computer?

Thanks Allen, we will try the settings for pdf's.

The plotter cannot be upgraded, holds 128 mb of memory

Normally a harddrive is needed at the plotter to handle large files, not just RAM: unless the driver is able to tap PC/Server Ram or HD space much like the suggestion above.
