hi

i received a file from a consultant.. all linework in paperspace (not just lines shown in viewports) appears in greyscale instead of color set by layer.. when i muck around with the page setup, sometimes the linework reverts to the standard colors set by layer

what variable controls this greyscale appearance for page layouts.?

Try this...

Right click on layout tab, select "Page Setup Manager" and click modify.
Look in the upper right hand corner.
Is the "Display Plot Styles" box checked?

This setting can cause what you are experiencing.
